| What is Authentication? |
A process whereby you may positively and absolutely ascertain that
a person or machine is who they claim to be before extending them
any access to or privileges on your private network.

| What does it do? |
It insists that a person or machine requesting access to your network
provide identification evidence stronger than traditional user passwords.
It usually involves cryptographic verification or something as conclusive
as a picture, badge, or biometric data such as fingerprints, retinal scanning,
and face recognition. Most important, it gives you the confidence that
before you admit anyone onto your private network you can be sure that it
is the person or machine to whom you have decided to grant access.
